Eraj Gunewardena is a dynamic legal professional with over seven years of experience in Intellectual Property (IP) and commercial law. A proud alumnus of Ananda College, Colombo 10, Eraj holds a Diploma in International Relations from the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies and a Diploma in Intellectual Property awarded by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO Academy). He graduated from the University of London with an LLB (Second Class Honours) and is an active member of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka.
Eraj commenced his legal career at the Attorney General’s Department of Sri Lanka, completing his apprenticeship under the guidance of (then) Additional Solicitor General, Mr. Yasantha Kodagoda, PC. In 2018, he joined IP Chambers, where he spent five formative years as a core member of the firm, building significant experience in IP prosecution and enforcement.
In 2023, Eraj transitioned into the corporate sector by joining one of Sri Lanka’s largest apparel exporters where he spent two years as part of the Group Legal team. There, he worked extensively on commercial contracts and intellectual property strategy and played a key role in the legal integration of two of the company’s largest subsidiaries.
Currently, Eraj operates as an independent legal consultant, advising a growing portfolio of businesses across sectors on intellectual property protection, contract structuring, and corporate legal matters. Known for his pragmatic approach and strategic insight, he supports clients by navigating complex legal frameworks while aligning legal solutions with business objectives.
