
As the former Senior Associate at IP CHAMBERS, Achala graduated from Staffordshire University, United Kingdom with an LL.B Second Class Honors and enrolled as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka. She also completed her master’s degree (LL.M) at the University of Colombo, focusing on Intellectual Property, Company Law, and International Trade Law.
Achala specialized in Intellectual Property Law and has successfully completed the Advanced International Diploma on “Intellectual Property Asset Management for Business Success,” jointly conducted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA), and WIPO Academy.
She has extensive experience in prosecuting office actions related to trademarks, patents, and industrial designs with the National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka and in other jurisdictions. Her other areas of practice included IP Litigation, Commercial Litigation, and drafting Contracts & Agreements. She represented both local and international clients in commercial litigation before courts.
She is currently pursuing her Barrister’s qualification as well as the Chartered Trade Mark Attorney (CITMA) qualification in the United Kingdom, and is presently employed at a prestigious company in the corporate sector in the U.K.
